The main objectives of the masters program Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Protection are the detailed study of the eco-chemical processes that occur in the atmosphere, soil, natural waters, living organisms, as well as waste treatment processes, drinking water conditioning technologies and wastewater treatment.

The necessity of this program is conditioned by the anthropogenic impact on the environment, when not only the knowledge of the physico-chemical laws that result from this impact, but also the development of new environmentally friendly technologies that can help to improve its state and minimize the action negative. As the environmental protection as a training area for specialists is to ensure a certain level of industrial development of the country while respecting environmental protection conditions, the curriculum contains disciplines linked to the present and future demands of the country. They will contribute to the involvement of field specialists in solving environmental problems.

The second cycle qualification (Master in Chemical sciences) is offered to graduate students who have completed the program and promoted the evaluation tests at least with the grade “5”.

Upon completion of the training program the graduate holds the following competencies:

  • Define a subject of research in the field and develop a plan to achieve the proposed objectives.
  • Critical analysis of scientific information related to the field of environmental chemistry and environmental protection.
  • Interpretation of practical data obtained by applying modern concepts and theories.
  • Prognosis of changes in the chemical composition of the environment at the action of different pollutants.
  • Application of treatment technology according to waste type and chemical composition of waste water.
  • Argumentation of the role of chemical processes in the sustainable development of the environment.
  • Propose and substantiate immediate and forward-looking solutions for improving the state of the environment and for preventing any pollution.
